On back pain:
Vicki: Mommy, and your back still hurts?
Me: No, sweetheart, it’s all better.
Vicki (launches herself at me): Then you can CARRY MEEEEE!
On Nana & Pop’s dogs:
Vicki: Gus is little and can ride with me and Billy is big so he plays tennis.
Upon getting out of her new Power Wheels Jeep:
Vicki: Hi, guys! You wanna ride on my GPS?
When Luke cries:
Vicki: It’s ok, baby. I right here.
Then she brings him a toy/snack/water bottle and he stops crying! I can practically leave them home alone!
On using the toilet:
Vicki: Mommy, I listening for the pee. I hear it! PEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!
Bedtime is always very chatty:
Vicki: Mommy, you wanna snuggle with me for just a minute? And talk about aquariums?
Me: Ok. What do you like better, turtles or sharks?
Vicki: Turtles AND sharks!
Me: Whales or stingrays?
Vicki: Whales AND stingrays!
Me: Jellyfish or starfish?
Vicki: Jellyfish AND starfish!
Repeat, repeat, repeat.
When I’m getting up to leave her room:
Me: Goodnight, Vicki, I love you! See you in the morning!
Vicki: I’m gonna hold onto you so you can’t leave!
Me: (peeling her off my neck) Ok, sweetie, see you in the morning!
Vicki: Goodnight, Mommy, I love you. Sweet dreams! Happy Mother’s Day!
Every. Single. Night. since Mother’s Day. And I have to wish her a Happy Mother’s Day back or she gets upset.
Yesterday I lost her for less than a minute at the beach. She had just wandered off, but I was obviously freaked the freak out. Our conversation from last night:
Vicki: So, how was your day, Mommy?
Me: Kinda scary.
Vicki: Why scary, Mommy?
Me: I was scared when I couldn’t find you.
Vicki: That not scary, Mommy. That was an accident. Sometimes we make mistakes.
Profound toddler is profound.
